After Dark Films and Primary Wave Special Markets are proud to announce they will be releasing the first branded soundtracks in conjunction with Horrorfest III “Eight Films To Die For®” (www.horrorfestonline.com) on January 5th, 2009.

Debuting in 2006, After Dark Films’ Horrorfest “8 Films to Die For®”, is a one-week national film festival that celebrates all areas of the horror genre. In its first year, Horrorfest became the first film festival in history to break into the Top 10 at the national box office, grossing over $2.5 million.

Based on the highly successful “Eight Films To Die For” series, Primary Wave will be releasing 8 Songs To Die For featuring songs inspired by the bloodcurdling movies that make up Horrorfest III - the biggest horror film festival in the USA. The digital releases will include some of the best metal and hardcore bands such as Walls of Jericho ("The Prey"), Bleeding Thru ("Death Anxiety"), Ministry ("Let’s Go"), and Revolting Cocks ("Keys to the City"), among others.

8 Themes To Die For will contain songs and scores from the feature films in Horrorfest III; this year’s lineup includes: THE BROKEN, AUTOPSY, DYING BREED, BUTTERFLY EFFECT 3, FROM WITHIN, SLAUGHTER, VOICES, and PERKINS’ 14.

Primary Wave’s Jonathan Platt and Jonathan Miller, the team that produced the successful Saw soundtracks, selected the songs on both 8 Songs To Die For and 8 Themes To Die For.

THE BAKERTON GROUP (Clutch) ANNOUNCE ALBUM, FEBRUARY TOUR

Weathermaker Music, the label owned by touring juggernauts Clutch, has inked a multi-year, multiple release North American deal with Sony/BMG owned RED Distribution. First on deck, slated for a February 17th release through the formidable alliance, is the new BAKERTON GROUP release entitled "El Rojo!"

Produced by Clutch and J. Robbins at Magpie Cage Studios in Baltimore, MD, "El Rojo" will be the first full tilt release from THE BAKERTON GROUP, the psychedelic instrumental jazz-laden alter ego of Clutch (all 4 original Clutch members make up The Bakerton Group). In addition, Per Wiberg from Opeth was brought in to handle all piano, synth and keyboard duties on all 10 of "El Rojo's" tracks.

Glasvegas are back in the US and the band's S/T release is in stores today! The band celebrated their release with an apperance on Letterman last night and are hitting the road for a few dates across the US this month. The physical album will include two bonus tracks: "The Pretties Thing on Saltecoats Beach" and "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime" a cover of the Korgies track.

One listen to this incredible album and it’s easy to see why everyone is talking about Glasvegas. Proclaimed by NME as "Britan's Best New Band," the combination of their incredibly sonic and layered music, along with James Allan’s heartbreaking lyrics and vocals has the band poised to win over the US as well. Glasvegas was co produced by singer James Allan and Rich Costey (Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, Muse) in Brooklyn, NY over the Winter and Spring of 2008. Newcomers Midnight Fistfight and the Rodney Speed Experience open the night.

MTV and Pepsi to Offer Viewers and Partygoers Opportunities to Share Text Messages Tapping into Their Hope and Optimism for the New Year On Air or on MTV's HD Screen in Times Square

NEW YORK, December 19, 2008 - While Times Square will certainly have its share of New Year's Eve festivities counting down to 2009, MTV has teamed up with Miley Cyrus, one of music's biggest stars, to celebrate the year's end with one of the biggest parties of the year, "FNMTV Presents: A Miley-Sized Surprise...New Year's Eve 2009." The special will air live on Wednesday, December 31st from 8-9:30pm ET, with an encore presentation at 10:30pm ET featuring a live countdown from Times Square. Viewers will be treated to special live performances from Miley, who'll be hosting the show from the house of a lucky fan, and ringing in the new year by congratulating someone who spent 2008 helping to better
the lives of others.

After Miley surprises the lucky fan by showing up on her doorstep, they'll spend the day hanging out together, participating in activities for the fan's favorite charity, and visiting with friends. Along the way, Miley will be showering her with gifts and treats throughout the festivities. Let's just say it'll be a giant "Miley-sized" surprise like no other when the party begins, including performances by Miley from the winning fan's bedroom, another featuring Metro Station and more! We're talking total takeover here.

We'll keep the party going from MTV's Times Square studio, which will host performances from All Time Low, The Academy Is... and Kevin Rudolf. Emceeing from our studios will be Aussie twin duo Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, better known as The Veronicas, who will be on hand to interview the show's performers and revel in the night's festivities.

In addition, MTV and Pepsi are closing out the final hours of 2008 by engaging consumers in a live text-to-screen dialogue about how they plan to refresh themselves and the world in 2009. People in Times Square can text NYE to 66333 to submit messages that may appear on MTV's HD Times Square Screen, MTV 44 1/2, and TV viewers can text CHANGE to 66333 for
the chance that their comments will appear on a crawl at the bottom of the television programming throughout MTV's New Year's Eve shows. Alternative Press is pleased to announce Maryland 4-piece ALL TIME LOW as the 2008 “Band of the Year”, as well as the cover boys of their February issue. The ballots for the 2008 Readers Poll were the deciding factor for the award that's previously been bestowed upon Paramore, Fall Out Boy, and Avenged Sevenfold. The upcoming issue also has the guys dishing on their recent headlining tour, fans, and their impending sophomore album.

Rev Theory Premieres New Video

Chris Cornell Debuts New Video

Chris Cornell has just premiered the video for “Scream,” the title track off of his Timbaland produced album due out next year. Directed by Alan Ferguson (Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes), the cinematic piece captures the two opposing moods of the song. “My role in the video is performing the song in super-slow-motion,” explains Cornell. “I’m existing in this Zen-like world, singing these song lyrics and everything going on around me is super-fast, super-chaotic, and I’m just suspended in it.”

Bruce Springsteen’s “The Wrestler” has been nominated for a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award in the “Best Song from a Film” category. “The Wrestler” can be heard in Darren Aronofsky’s new film of the same name, opening in New York and Los Angeles on Wednesday, December 17 with wider release to follow. Back in the late ’80s, Randy “The Ram” Robinson (Mickey Rourke) was a headlining professional wrestler. Now, twenty years later, he ekes out a living performing for handfuls of diehard wrestling fans in high school gyms and community centers around New Jersey. However, a heart attack forces him into retirement. As his sense of identity starts to slip away, he begins to evaluate the state of his life — trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter (Evan Rachel Wood), and striking up a blossoming romance with an exotic dancer (Marisa Tomei) who is ready to start a new life. Yet all this cannot compare to the allure of the ring and passion for his art, which threatens to pull Randy “The Ram” back into his world of wrestling. The Wrestler had its North American premiere at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, won the Golden Lion at the 2008 Venice Film Festival and has been nominated for 3 Golden Globes and 3 Critics Choice Awards.

In an interview with Uncut, Mickey Rourke stated, "I wrote Bruce a letter, because we've known each other over twenty years, and he knows what I used to be, or whatever. Where I went. What I'd been reduced to. I told him how I felt lucky now and didn't have to end up being this guy, being Randy (character from The Wrestler). A while later I got a call in the middle of the night: he said he'd written a little song, for nothing. It's fucking beautiful, right? I was honored he took the time, because he's a busy cat. I mean, I'm so goddam proud of this magical movie and to have Bruce's input… ain't nobody in Hollywood with all their millions can just ring the man and he'll do a song, y'know?"

Bruce Springsteen's new album Working on a Dream has been set for a January 27 release on Columbia Records. Working on a Dream was recorded with the E Street Band and features twelve new Springsteen compositions plus two bonus tracks. It is the fourth collaboration between Springsteen and Brendan O'Brien, who produced and mixed the album.

Coheed and Cambria Box Set To Be Released

COHEED AND CAMBRIA TO RELEASE 9-DISC BOX SET ON MARCH 17, 2009 TO COMMEMORATE THEIR HISTORIC NEVERENDER SHOWS IN NEW YORK CITY

Columbia Records is excited to announce that on March 17, 2009, Coheed and Cambria will release Neverender, The Children of the Fence boxset, a release that is possibly as ambitious as the event itself.

Neverender marked the triumphant culmination of the band's four-album album cycle. The historic four-night event featured the band performing each of their four albums in their entirety on four consecutive nights, October 22-25 2008 at New York’s Terminal 5 and was the first time that Coheed had performed the saga that connects the albums in order. The band performed in front of nearly 11,000 of their most passionate fans, who flew in from all over the world, organized for months in advance to carpool and share hotel rooms, lined up all day in the rain to get the best spots on the floor. Selling out in three hours, Neverender’s New York dates prompted a tide of demand that spawned three other sold-out Neverender stands, in LA, Chicago, and London.

The box set documents the New York stand (as well as clips from all 3 other cities) in one massive package that will include four live DVDs, four live audio CDs, one documentary DVD, a 10x10 hardcover 48-page photo book and a 7-1/2” custom metal dragonfly. A condensed two-disc DVD will also be made available. Pre-sales for the box began on Friday, Dec 12. Fans who pre-order it will get their names included on a “Children of the Fence” page inside the book. The first 3,000 copies will be signed by the band.

Coheed and Cambria begin a tour with Slipknot on Jan, 23rd. Full tour dates are below.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus have just released the first video from their upcoming Lonely Road album. “You Better Pray” is directed by Tony Petrossian who has also worked with bands like Rise Against, Taking Back Sunday, and Slipknot among others. The clip also is the first to not include guitarist Elias Reidy who is no longer with the band.

Vocalist Ronnie Winter explains, “As some of you may already know or have noticed by now (album cover, new video, myspace, etc.), Elias is no longer with RJA, and has not been since late October. As history goes, RJA was started by Ronnie and Duke about seven years ago, and there have been seven lineup changes since then, especially in the guitar department, where Elias was the 5th replacement guitarist (such is life in a rock n roll band). Anyway, more on this shortly, but regardless have no fear - the core of RJA remains intact.”
