December 2, 2008—ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK TASTE OF CHAOS continues to stake its claim as the preeminent winter rock package tour. Always an explosive, in-your-face affair, ROCKSTAR TASTE OF CHAOS features today’s biggest and on-the-verge of stardom hard rock bands. Blaring, boisterous and brutal, this year’s tour will be no different. Heralded by Florida’s Backstage Pass as “delivering some of the best known acts in the rock 'n roll world," past RTOC performers have included a who’s who of this decade’s most popular rock bands including My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Rise Against, Deftones, Killswitch Engage, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Used and over three hundred more.
Tour co-founder Kevin Lyman, always with his ear to the street and his hand on the scene’s pulse, chose this year’s cutting edge lineup after watching many of these same bands explode on the 2008 Van’s Warped Tour. By taking fan feedback to heart and personally handpicking artists that he feels will be breaking out in ’09, the lineup includes headliner THURSDAY, as well as BRING ME THE HORIZON, FOUR YEAR STRONG, PIERCE THE VEIL (all of whom will rotate their spot on the bill throughout the tour), and CANCER BATS. In addition, one local Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands winner will open the show at each stop.
“After listening to what fans had to say during Warped Tour and watching many of these bands with thousands of fans watching them perform,” Lyman explains, “these are the bands rock fans want to see. And I believe they’re all on the brink of breakout success.”
Last year, the Asbury Park Press praised Lyman for his forward looking approach to the tour, writing: "No wonder the Rockstar Taste of Chaos is known as the 'Winter Warped Tour.' Much like the highly successful summer rock jaunt, Rockstar Taste of Chaos is affordable and offers a wide range of bands. Lyman, who assembles the Warped Tour lineup, goes out of his way to put together a package of punk, hard rock and true alternative acts for the bill."
This year, fans can expect a low ticket price (between $20-25 per ticket) as well as the return of the fun-filled concourse offering a bevy of fascinating distractions in between sets guaranteeing that the pandemonium will begin as soon as fans enter the venue.

British metalcore outfit BRING ME THE HORIZON’S latest release, Suicide Season is now out on Epitaph Records. The 2009 lineup will feature headliner CUTE IS WHAT WE AIM FOR, along with MEG & DIA, BREATHE CAROLINA, EVERY AVENUE, and ANARBOR. The annual nationwide charity tour, now in its eighth year, raises funds and awareness for youth involvement in charitable action, and for the second straight year Take Action has chosen not-for-profit organization DoSomething.org to benefit from the funds raised and to help spread the message of action to young people across the country.
DoSomething.org is a national not-for-profit that believes that young people have the power to make a difference. They inspire, empower and celebrate a generation of doers: young people who recognize the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action.
DoSomething.org CEO Nancy Lublin says of the not-for-profit teaming up with Take Action! Tour: "Music has always moved generations. We're psyched to partner with Take Action! We believe that there is a lot of creativity and passion in generation Z (kids under age 25). Their idea of getting involved isn't writing a big check or attending a charity dinner--they actually do stuff."
Each Take Action tour stop is a unique experience where fans are exposed to a great show along with encouragement and information from the bands, charity partners, and sponsors about how they can get involved with causes that are important to them. In addition to the good time and inspiration, 10% of the ticket price from each ticket sold is donated to DoSomething.org, which makes each fan in attendance an active participant in financially supporting non profit action. To date Sub City, with the help of hundreds of thousands of young people, has raised over $550,000 through the Take Action initiative. This year's headliner CUTE IS WHAT WE AIM FOR, touring in support of its second full-length release Rotation, is one of the brightest bands in the current music scene. A band on the brink of mass crossover appeal, Utah's MEG & DIA is thrilled to be onboard as part of the Take Action! Tour. "All five of us in Meg & Dia are very excited to be part of a tour that supports making ones community a better and more beautiful place," Dia Frampton declares. "Many non-profit organizations get buried and do not receive the attention they deserve. We hope we can help point out the many places people can go, and hopefully will go, to donate time and money for good causes." Meg Frampton adds: "We are so excited to be part of a tour promoting not just one particular organization or charity, but the single notion of how important it is to get out there and "do something" to help out with any part of the world that you feel passionately about and you feel is in need of a helping hand."
Denver's BREATHE CAROLINA, a two-piece band fusing elements of electronica and punk/post hardcore, touring in support of its latest release It's Classy, Not Classic on Rise Records, is also quite aware of the impact the Take Action! Tour has. "I'm very excited to be a part of the Take Action! Tour because it promotes a positive message," notes David Schmitt of Breathe Carolina. "I'm also pumped to make new friends and Cute Is What We Aim For has been a long time favorite of mine and to be able to share the stage with them will be amazing."
Marysville, Michigan natives EVERY AVENUE have taken 2008 by storm with the release of their debut, full length record Shh, Just Go With It, endless touring, and the release of their new music video for, "Think Of You Later (Empty Room)." They are excited to look ahead into 2009 and kick off the year on the Take Action! Tour. "Using music to promote a good cause is something we are honored to be a part of. Take Action! highlights the importance of how little things can make huge impacts," says vocalist Dave Strauchman. "We can't explain how much it means to us to be involved with DoSomething.org. Hatebreed contributed the song "Refuse/Resist" to the Punisher: War Zone soundtrack. They've released five full-length metalcore albums and will have a new release out in the early part of 2009. Hatebreed consists of Jamey Jasta (vocals), Frank Novinec (guitar), Sean Martin (guitar), Chris Beattie (bass), and Matt Byrne (drums).
Seether
South African band Seether's track "Fallen" is showcased on the movie soundtrack. This quartet has released four major albums (and one previous album when they were known as Saron Gas). Their latest album, Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces, was featured on this site's Artist of the Month showcase. Band members include Shaun Morgan (vocals, guitar), Dale Stewart (guitar), Troy McLawhorn (guitar), and John Humphrey (drums).

Senses Fail
Senses Fail has released three albums on Vagrant Records, and their contribution to the movie is the song "The Past Is Proof." Based out of Ridgewood, New Jersey, the band consists of James "Buddy" Nielsen (vocals), Garrett Zablocki (guitar), Heath Saraceno (guitar), Jason Black (bass), and Dan Trapp (drums). 7 Days Away
New band 7 Days Away scores big with their track "Take Me Away" on the Punisher: War Zone soundtrack. They were hand-picked by Shaun Morgan of Seether to win the contest among thousands of unsigned bands to be on the soundtrack. They've released two hard-rocking albums (Death Cannot Separate and Stigmata) and will be on tour in early 2009. Afterwords debuted in the Top 25 of Billboard’s Album Chart and on the iTunes Top 10 when it was originally released last year. At the same time, the disc’s first single, “Hollywood,” was used in commercials by American Idol throughout their lengthy audition process. By sheer coincidence winner David Cook was a big fan, performing Collective Soul’s classic hit, “The World I Know,” on the show’s finale, causing Entertainment Weekly to note that Cook “staked his entire Idol career on a Collective Soul cover,” and won. Alternative Addiction (www.alternativeaddiction.com) has announced the release of the site's first-ever Christmas compilation, An Alternative Christmas. In addition to showcasing the site's most well known tracklist on a compilation to date, it's also their first charity disc.
One of the keystone songs on the album is the original Christmas song, "She's A Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas" from Long Island's Patent Pending. The song showcases the band's trademark, high energy, high fun form of pop punk rock as they put a humorous take on the classic Christmas idea that anyone can change for the better, including those with questionable ethics.

"Most holiday seasons come with an abundance of holiday music. There's a lot of it- it's just a lot of the same stuff," says Alternative Addiction's Ryan Jones. "What makes this album so unique is the original and distinctive songs that are on the track list. There are classic songs on the album, some newer classics and there's also original material on this album that was written and/or recorded for this holiday season. You always have holiday music available, but not often do you have legitimately new holiday music."
Perhaps the best part of the Christmas themed compilation is that all of the profits from its release will be donated to charity. The circumstances of the donation are a little odd, however. "We originally started working on this compilation thinking we would be working with the charity that we're donating the money to," Said Jones. “But as things progressed, we got some great music that was also a little risqué. So what ends up happening is we're still donating the money to charity but we can't directly work with the organization because of it's reputation with kids. We put the music before the marketing - something that's always hard to do, and something that can make sales suffer, but we feel the final product is worth it."
This is a limited edition special issue that will only be available until January 31, 2009.

The Christmas special. A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All! is a one-hour original musical holiday special. It premieres on Sunday, November 23 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on COMEDY CENTRAL. The musical companion EP of the same name will be available on iTunes.
In the special, Colbert is on his way to meet with Elvis Costello in New York City but is snowed-in at his cabin in upstate New York (bear country). He weathers through the storm with help from his friends Feist, Toby Keith, John Legend, Willie Nelson and Jon Stewart. A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All! features original songs written by David Javerbaum (executive producer, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and composer Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), with the exception of "(What's So Funny 'bout) Peace, Love And Understanding" which was written by Nick Lowe. The songs were produced by Schlesinger and Steven M. Gold. Theme music and score also by Schlesinger and Gold. The bonus features on the DVD include a book burning Yule log, video advent calendar, alternate endings and more.

have completed recording their sophomore album, Lonely Road, at the Valley Village, CA, studio of
super-producer Howard Benson (Hoobastank, P.O.D., Less Than Jake, Daughtry, Seether,
All-American Rejects), the follow-up to the Don't
You Fake It. Their debut breakthrough was two years in the making, a
tribute to long-term artist development, and has gone on to sell more than 2.1
million singles and scan over a million copies in the U.S. to date.
The new album, Lonely Road,
streets on Feb. 3, 2009, and is preceded digitally by the current hit track,
